<VV> A way to make a 4 speed Powerglide, no extra gearsets! But not for the faint hearted...

So, Ravigneaux gearing caught my interest. Ran across this article, should anyone feel experimental. Using a single Ravigneaux gearset, here's a way you can get 4 speed forward, one reverse. No additional gearsets needed. Now, one huge difference here, the ring gear is connected to the output shaft, where the planetary carrier drives the output on a Powerglide. Still, a way to get lots of speeds with something that fits where the PG goes!
I'll let you guys chew on this one for a bit...

I remember the Communique article about the car. Not to say that I remember
all the facts :)
I believe they attempted to put a turbo engine in the car, with the
Powerglide (kind of unusual, right there). But they could not keep it from
pinging when it shifted to drive. That's when they tried making the 3-speed
automatic. It still didn't keep it from pinging, so I think it got a
normally aspirated engine anyway.
