yes this is true. For cars prior to 1975 you are issued a tag receipt which
in most states will be the same as a title (you may have to print out the
Alabama Motor Vehicle Code that states this though). If you bring a car
from out of state into Alabama you will have to take it to the license
office so they can verify the information on your Bill of Sale and Title
(numbers match, year, etc). What keeps people from going to Alabama and
registering their cars? You must have an Alabama address and a post office
box will not do. So either you must be an Alabama resident or have an
Alabama address plus you must show proof of insurance (issued in Alabama)
and an Alabama drivers license.
