Thanks for the info - still strikes me as a pretty open invitation to fraud! 
Surely, all you need is a friend living in Alabama (my Corvair is registered 
in NC, but I am not).

And are you sure about the license? I find it amazing if you have to get a 
new license every time you move state - and no-one has asked me for an NC 
one when insuring or titling the Vair (although it does at least have an NC 
title).
