I don't think there's any problem at all with speculating, but at the moment 
he is trying to sell something which doesn't belong to him, using 
photographs he doesn't even know are accurate, and I think this goes against 
a lot of eBay's rules. To underline what I mean, try emailing him and asking 
him for further pictures and details of the wheels - he won't be able to 
provide any, but this isn't at all clear from the auction.

But speculating would be absolutely fine once he had actually *received* the 
wheels!
