Folks,

I recently discovered that I have a bad rear axle bearing on my 62 Monza
Coupe. A new one is ordered and hopefully on the way. I have done this operation
(removing the yoke from the axle) once before, but it has been many years.
When I did it I didn't have the tool referred to in the 1961 "Main" Shop Manual
which is in Figure 6C-6 using tool J-5504. This tool appears to be a
specialty puller tool which reaches around behind to the shoulder of the yoke which
is then pulled off as the bolt is tightened against the end of the axle. I am
thinking that a good soaking with a good penetrating oil (I use Kano
Aerokroil) and judiciously striking the shoulder with a large flat punch to remove the
yoke will do the job. This may not be the best method and if anyone can give
me advice on what works well for you, it will be appreciated.

Thanks
