[FC] speed and power, or power and speed

Who knows how fast I'm going; it's an FC (I'll have to get to that speedo 
cable sometime). I think I'm going about 55 or so. I noticed that it does it in 
3rd as well. Cruises OK, but when you floor it, it balks and decelerates.

Why I'm thinking fuel first:

1. Idles smoother than the 'brier w/the pertronix.
2. Runs great while accelerating without flooring it.
3. Transmission engages fine; clutch doesn't slip.

   My question was basically asking if this is a known indicator of a failing 
fuel pump, or of some other common FC problem.
