Mark: Many years ago, in a life far far away, when I was Chairman of the
Competition Committee, someone sent me a photo and note about fast steering
arms. Note and photo are not handy these days.
Anyhow, they were all bolted to a common threaded rod. As I remember it,
there were at least three different arm lengths plus the original stock arm
as delivered from GM. So be carefull what you ask for. You are dealing
with several unknowns here.
Many years ago, I had Clark's fast steering arm installed on my Corsa.
Which I autocrossed. Along with factory HD springs, which I also got from
Clarks. Both were perfectly acceptable for driving on the street. I do
not remember if they made me faster at autocrossing. Probably not.
If I were doing it again, I spend the money and get my parts from people we
have trusted for years: Clark's.
Historically Yours,
James Rice

Im hoping some out there can clear up some confusion for me . I have a LM 66
Corsa and would like to add quick steering arms. I have a set of aftermarket
arms that were labeled off a 64 Spyder. They look like they will fit my 66
but I have not dissembled anything yet to confirm that. There are NO part
numbers or ID on the quick arms. I've also been told that the only
difference between EM and LM armes is actually only the part number.
I appreciate any info, Thanks,
Mark

You will find the aftermarket arms are probably too fast, as they mess up
the Ackerman angles of the tie rods/idler/steering pittman arm relationship.
That being said, I ran them for years on my 64 Spyder...?
I found no difference between early and late steering arms, except the lates
seemed beefier. Maybe because? they had less time to rust here in the rusty
east?
For a while Matt Nall in Oregon made and sold an adjustable arm, so you
could dial in the amount of quick vs issues. if you find a set of those, buy
them.

Well, Clarks does list their aftermarket arms with different part numbers
for early and late, so....
Take a close look between them. Maybe the "stop" is slightly different.
