<VV> Late model fuel system help needed

Happy new year all.

I will shortly be trouble shoot my 65 Corsa running low on fuel with a WORKING gas gauge showing 1/2 tank when it runs low (an occasionally up to FULL when I put fuel in it). So faulty gauge ? or incorrectly adjusted sensor ? Where do you start, my skills would say fuel gauge. If so how's the easiest way to remove it ? And I'm thinking replace more so than trying to bend/adjust the float. Comments please.
