I also run 205/55R15s on knockoff Minilite style wheels on my 66. BFG
GForce Sport, not sure if still available in that size. Great tires but
with a 3.55 final drive ratio, the engine revs up there at 75mph since
they are quite a bit shorter.

It is a little more of a performance tire size. fender clearance is dependent on wheel width and offset, as well as ride height. I had 205/60-15s on early Camaro (1984) Z28 wheels. there was a slight interference at the front of the front wheelwell.
