<VV> Directional signal switch

I pulled the steering wheel and messed with the little metal tabs inside the direction all signal switch. The brake light came on.  Gotta order a new one.  But I'm having an awful time pulling the old switch off the steering column.  I removed the 3 screws and pried to no avail. Now I really need a new switch because I cracked the old one.  What gives with this piece of plastic?
