TCI <http://www.tciauto.com/tc/transmissionshtml/> has several types and
thicknesses of clutch disk for Corvair PowerGlides (same as cast iron case
PG). Note than the steels are different between car and Corvair
PowerGlides and the Corvair uses smaller number of disk in the clutch packs
than car PowerGlide.. Yes all Corvair powered and all 500 series V-8
UltraVans came with PowerGlide transmissions. That said, 3.0 and 3.1 liter
Corvair engine can develop sufficient torque to overcome the 1964-1969
Corvair PowerGlide. Fortunately Ken Arnold developed internal parts to
overcome the stock limitations and hold the toque of his 215 cuin V-8
Corvair and Billy Bruce's 1963 Corvair Turbo drag car.
