<VV> Towing a Corvair on all fours

A long time back, I towed a '65 Monza convertible on all fours with a tow bar behind a U-Haul truck for about 450 miles, with the engine running as advised by someone.
Not sure if it might have been cheaper to turn the engine and overhaul the PG since it cost more for the gas in the Vair than for the truck!
I didn't have a hookup for the lights, so it also kept the battery from dying?

Yes - and the reason that I said tow in a forward facing position. Probably also should have said tow bar for relatively short trips if it is a PG tranny. I have heard of folks who have gone long distances with a PG on a tow bar by either leaving the engine running or stopping frequently to run it. I've never done that, so cannot say how well that works.
Also - facing forward, you can have the top down if you so desire. Or you might be moving a car that has no top if in restoration mode.

point that, even with the top down as I did, the windshield could
potentially be damaged?
