Seth and John may be right, I just replaced my cooler seals to stop a new
leak on my corvan with a 12 plate cooler. I added a little grease to the
seals to help hold them it place during installation. Seth is right it does
make a mess to clean up.

You sure the leak isn't the oil cooler?

Sorry but I neglected to tell everyone the total facts. The motor is 140
in
a LM. The cover in question is where the distributer is. The leak is on
the
bolt area near the oil cooler. So do I remove oil cooler and distributer
before the cover?Sounds like I have to remove engine mount and lower motor
somewhat. Some say to remove distributer and some say no. So what is the
consenses? What about a good Aluminum cleaner to use on heads and block?
Again Many Thanks. This is my 1st major motor work for me. John Gull in
