Is this just the VV server or the server for the entire CORSA website?

The long and short of it is control and flexibility.

I'd certainly welcome someone who wants to investigate the costs, although 
every time I've looked it's been expensive.  At a high level we'd require:

Joomla!
Chapter sites
Mailman lists (several)
Wiki
Wordpress
Multiple domains
Shell access
Add/upgrade packages
