Negative. They're the same. But, the yokes on the earlies slide, making the measurement moot. The side adjusters, etc., are all the same. In fact (but why would you want to?) you can use an early diff in a late case and vice versa, as long as you put the yoke nuts in for the lates.

Isn't the late model differential wider, yoke to yoke, than the early model?
You might need to shorten the axle shafts to use it.
