<VV> Water Pumper cooling question (no Corvair)

389 Pontiac, 2 - 3 miles, & foam is boiling out around cap &  overflow.  
Dropped thermostat in boiling water -- no problem there. When I  look down 
into filler of rad., just after cranking, I see clear/antifreeze water  and NO 
movement of water from side-to-side, which I would assume you would see  if 
the the rad. was clear & water pump working.  I'm asking if  there is a way 
to eliminate either the water pump OR radiator as the culprit -  short of 
removing & replacing/rebuilding either or both.  No  bubbles/foam in the 
engine oil & I see no evidence of water leaks anywhere  else.
 
Analysis - over shotgunning it until I get lucky, is desirable.
