I'd be willing to bet that the folks at GM knew about Ralphie's book before it was published. It only started with the Corvair and covered several other "evil" cars.
I'd also be willing to bet that the Chevy engineers knew about the short comings of the EM rear suspension design before the book was written (go ahead and argue how a swing axel is really better than a fully independant suspension).

I would say the article states "incorrectly" that the '64 Corvair changes
were a result etc.. . . .
To me, the term "falsely" implies malice. "Incorrectly" is a factual
statement of a mistake.
But that's just my opinion!
