<VV> OIL FILTER PROBLEM? long story

RE: loose oil filter plate. (shot in dark?) 
i just recently took a motor way apart searching for a strange noise , like 
 cam gear type noise. my findings were ( i think!!) oil filter plate spun  
shutting off most oil flow thru filter , causing oil to flow thru bypass 
valves  in the housing. it showed good oil pressure on a gauge. the oil pump 
must have  had to work very hard. it caused the distrib gear to wear where it 
is driven  from the cam. i replaced the oil pump gears , distrib gear , 
camshaft , and of  course the oil filter. this motor had about  4000 miles on it 
when i  removed it for transmission problems , and decided to go after the 
noise. the  filter was changed at @1000 miles. i doubt both had the same 
troubles.
anyhow , make sure you do look at that plate and do NOT turn the filter  
(just the bolt!) when installing the filter.
i checked 3 brands of filters i have here in stock , and 2 will turn with  
no effort. i am not sure what brand was on that motor , i paint my filters a 
 semi gloss black before installing them.
end of story is , that motor has no noises now..still test running on the  
bench for now. 140pg crank,2 carb 110hp heads  , 9891 cam now.
