Mike - If that matters on a Corvair turbo, there are other problems.  There 
is no vacuum "advance" with the stock turbo. Just the pressure retard. But  
I guess if you leave the hose open after you pull it off, it might tell you 
 whether a vacuum leak into the manifold has an effect. Not sure what a 
rise or  fall in the idle might indicate at that point, however.
