Ray,
In our various Corvair groups we run the full gamut from guys that want  
everything in their Corvairs to be completely stock (just as it came from the  
factory) all the way to guys that make DRASTIC mods (like Chevy V-8s in the 
back  seat).

interest in the Corvair was the fact that the community doesn't generally  
look down on customization... I had a 68' Corvette convertible as my first  
car and caught hell from the Corvette community for having a custom air  
cleaner, valve covers, and wider tires....  it drove me away pretty  quick.
