<VV> 1963 turn signal switch cable attachment

hi, i am awaiting my new turn signal switch, i have removed the old one and cable. i see the screw and clamp set up, but the steel end of my cable is just straight, no hook or anything where it goes into the sliding part. is something missing? i would appreciate any information on the proper installation technique. thanks, jim
