And the other thing to be remembered here is that of the many times I've 
removed a Late drivetrain, I always left the seal attached to the body 
-- of course, that was before Corvairs were being restored to as new 
condition, and the only reason to remove the seal was for being severely 
damaged or impossibly grease soaked.  And, after GM quit supplying them, 
there were a number of years when no replacement was available, and you 
ran with what you had.
