<VV> Starter Motor Question

Hi,

 

To save a few pennies I decided to "kit" my starter motor with a Clarks kit.
This kit comes with a bearing for the end plate. I couldn't figure out how
to remove the existing bearing so I checked the manual which says the whole
plate has to be replaced. Before I start digging away at it, is there a
preferred method for removing and replacing this bearing?
