Without the extra E at the end of the family name, it would indeed be an oxymoron.
But I'll take the free plug anytime!!!!
In 1975 when Lynn Steele moved his company from Detroit to Denver, NC---The name of the company producing the rubber and selling it was called "Toolcraft Die and Machine", and the Catalog was called the Lynn Steele Catalog.
In the early 1980's, the family decided to honor the founder by renaming the company Steele Rubber Products.
About 10 members of the Steele family still work for the Company.
nearly all of our 11,000 parts are made in Denver, North Carolina by non-unionized American workers.
I've been in the Auto Parts business full and part-time since 1994. I've been with Steele 5 years as of last week. Best paying job I've had in the Auto Parts business, and I'm treated---like all the employees are---as part of the family. Our President admits to being parochial with the staff. Of course that goes as well when you mess up. But that's fair.
If you have questions about your Corvair weatherstripping parts or gaskets, I of course am the Corvair Specialist. Feel free to give me a call at 877-269-2270.
Press 3 when you hear the announcement come on, then press 212 for my extension. Always happy to help another Vair enthusiast.
There is a possibility that my LM Monza 2dr will be used for a video on installing hardtop weatherstripping, that would be shown on My Classic Car or the like. I'll keep the list advised if that happens.
