get the 20 ton press , and i think it would be a good idea to weld the
corner joints , but the newer models are better than the 30+ tear old 12 ton
unit i have been using too hard. i do a lot of hard work with it , and did
have to make it more stable by welding the upper corners. i have done
differential work , axles , turbo's and a lot of other jobs with it. you will
need to make or find various adapters to use with it. if you think you are
going to do pins with it , practice on a junk one first to make sure you have a
good support fixture that wont break the piston. i have a corvair shop do
it now ,just to be sure. it is worth it. a press is handy , but make
sure you know how to use it! it can be very dangerous at higher pressures ,
and break things. i have seen injuries at shops from not knowing how to add
safety to the job.
