Who knows what the stock front wheel hub outer diameter is for a 1965
monza?
Charles Birchwood Ps. 121
Charles,
There are a couple of dimensions that could be described with your
question. 1) The front hub has a dimension that the front wheel normally has to
snuggle up onto. 2) At the very bottom of that dimension is a tiny raised
shoulder that the brake drum has to pop over (and usually rust itself onto).
And 3) with the drum removed, that full hub flange - the one with the wheel
studs sticking out? It also has an outside diameter. So you need to pick
which diameter you want to know - On you can write down:
1) 2.78"
2) 2.81"
3) 6.2"
To install the S10 front disk rotor onto the Corvair hub, the little
shoulder has to be removed so the inside surface of the rotor hat will contact
the hub face, and the Outside diameter must be machined down to about 5.89"
to fit tightly into the S10 rotor hat. PS - Both of these changes must be
applied to the rear stub axle flange to install the S10 disks on the rear of
the Corvair.
