The factory specs for ride and suspension height are the only way I know to 
 accurately determine where the problem lies.  All you need are the specs, 
a  flat hard surface, a measuring device and half a day or so.  When some  
crook in a frame shop told me my "frame" had to be straightened on my first 
'68  I used a friend's garage floor to measure everything out and solved the 
problem  with new bushings on the rear suspension and a careful alignment.
 
Your final solution should be fairly straightforward once diagnosed.   Just 
get a pad for your creeper to save your back.
