About a year ago, My wife (we are separated) said that her jeep was making a
bad knocking noise. I took it around the block and realized that it was bad
rod knock. When I checked the oil, there wasn't any in it. When I asked what
happened, she said that the oil pressure gauge stayed at zero for the last
two weeks or so. I said " Didn't you check the oil?" She said that if there
was a problem, she thought there would be a red light. The engine was blown.
She now drives my Expedition and my Spyder is my daily driver.

Moral to the story, The driver needs to know what they are looking for on
the instrument panel AND know basic maintenance.

What, the red light caused by the non-functioning belt is not enough to tell

you to shut down the engine? If that is the case, then is that analog
needle going to have a greater impact on the brain? Hmmmm....
