I don't want to start one of those "I-got-my-communique-and-you-didn't"
threads but...I got my communique and Dave Newell has done it again with a great
article, "Corvair Beginnings: 50 Years Ago". In fact, Dave has out-done
himself with this one! Never-before-seen (at least by me) photos of Corvair
prototypes accompany the well-researched text. I'm glad that we, as a club, are
marking this entire year by commemorating the various 50th anniversaries of
occurrences that lead up to the introduction of the Corvair to the public on
October 2, 1959. You can bet that I will pause on January 23rd to think
about the first production prototype built 50 years ago that day. The article is
just the first in a series marking this golden anniversary year and I can't
wait to read the ones to come. So, if you're out there in cyber space
reading this, Dave, a big thank you. You can bet I'll be more impatient than ever
awaiting the arrival of my communique the next few months!
