<VV> Lowering the heating duct

That plastic LM heater duct is actually two pieces which come together about
two feet or so ahead of the beginning of the rear portion. The rear portion
has a metal tab about 18 inches forward of it's origin at the rear. The
metal tab is on the right side and it is screwed to the car body.
Just before the junction of the two parts of the heater duct and on the
right side is a plastic tab which attaches to the body with a screw - this
would be just ahead of the 30? degree bend and on the (much) longer front
section. The very front of the duct could also be rusted into place. As I
recall, there is a metal collar - at least at the front and I think at the
back as well. This is what rusts.
You might (I've not tried this) be able to pull downward (after removing the
attachment tab screws) where the 2 pieces of plastic ducting come together
in order to separate them. I believe that it is just a slip joint sort of
connection.
Good luck.
