I had a similar problem with my '69 Convertible. Under the cloth was a steel shelf that the motor is attached to. The wires ran almost directly down through the metal shelf to the CB (30 amp) near the battery. Mine came disconnected at the connection in the metal shelf and the wire fell down. It was a bear to reconnect as it is over the trans-axle area . You need a 4 foot long arm to reach that high to reconnect it if you can find it!
Hope this helps, maybe '69 is different?

The bottom of the seat back is held in with a couple of tabs, that sometimes need to be bent. The top of the Convert back seat back is held in by a couple of screws from the well side where the sideswrap around. The wires should run down the driver's side rocker area. You may have to take off the driver's side panels that cover the top mechanism to trace the wire.
