The real difference between mechanical brakes and hydraulically actuated is
that of ease of routing the " linkage" ....
If your brake pedal moves 3 inches and the liner squeezer moves 1/300 inch
at the brake liner .... the leverage is the same ( 900 to 1 ) , the brakes
will work the same ( except for the yes-buts (g) ) ...
One thing that may cloud the issue is that modern friction materials are
pretty dang good, if you finally find the right ones.
