My fan bearing came up out of my top cover this last weekend on the road
about 350 miles from my home.
Is this a common occurence with these things? What have some of you others
out there in Vairland done to keep this from happening? Or am I the only one?
(Why does it always happen to me)?
Thanks all.

Tim,
Yes a common occurance with a replaced bearing shaft where the cover was not
heated properly. Best thing now is one of the following. Replace the top
cover and heat is before installing the shaft. Remove the shaft and file a flat
in an appropriate spot. Then install a set screw in the neck of the cover to
contact the flat and hold the shaft in place. Maybe removing the shaft and
reinstalling it with some kind of goop to hold it in place might help I believe
Permatex has a "bearing mount" type of goop that works.
