<VV> Split boot on ball joint

What would cause the boot to split open on a new ball joint?  I would
like to make sure I don't have a problem before I replace the boot.  The
ball joint is new and no it was not over greased.

 

Anyone do a replacement boot using the Clark's replacement C637?  They
say it is for a tie rod but will work OK for ball joint.  Is there a
better boot available without needing to buy a whole new joint?
