I'm not the one that is implying it -- I'm saying flat out that if CORSA
wants non-member input, quit hiding the, as Harry refers to it, "the
member survey" in a non-public area of the CORSA website -- when CORSA
(not individual board members) wants to stop implying that it is a
"member-only survey", then I will stop interpreting it as such.

I really believe that individual board members each only have good
intentions and the best interest of the Corvair hobby at heart. But
sometimes, and this may be one of those, it isn't those collective good
intentions that come forth, but a different pack mentality that is
actually somewhat typical of small administrative boards where somehow
the sight of the true goal is lost amid the collective flurry of egos
and action, sometimes aka politics.

CORSA is a car club. And most car clubs I have been a member, the car
isimportant but the people are the real focus; a group of car people,
and for <>CORSA, Corvair people gathered to help each other enjoy their
hobby. In general, car people are a great lot.
And I agree -- most all small clubs, and even people in general, tend to
be good folks with common interests, whether it is cars, sports, cats,
dogs, whatever. But it does seem that when there are prestigious awards
on the line, egos tend to get a bit touchy -- dog and horse shows do
somehow come to mind, so maybe it is the money involved. Did any NASCAR
drivers flare up at Daytona? "Competition brings out the best", and worst.
I wrote in a private reply to Harry, "The higher the pedestal you place
the Corvair on in your publications, the more unattainable it looks to
the younger set that may want to become interested." Maybe people need
to be the focus -- would you like to be friends with this guy rather
than look at what a great car this guy built.
One of the great things about this text only forum we have here, we have
words to use to form our opinions of each other, and as such, this is a
pretty great community based on a very level playing field. The guys
setting around in the garage after the day's work is done, shooting the
bull, is a very apt description. You don't need glitzy publications,
conventions, nor dues for that to happen. The organization itself
should not be the end-all, but the glue that holds the folks together.
