the brank i used was crc  sold at napa.  bought 1 case to do the  car and it 
worked out well for me.
yes wires come out of those wheels , but never got me injured yet.   been 
doing it for many years with no injuries.  in fact been doing it most  of today 
on engines and a differential.
the wheels last quite a while and do a neat job.  you must check  carefully 
for wire pieces in any parts..i use air and a magnet. i would say the  wire 
failure is not much more than the wire wheels on a bench grinder...
