I believe DeDion is a completely different suspension design, where the wheels are not independent, but held in fixed alignment to each other like a typical RWD rear axle.

The "emergency" handling of my 1963 Spyder was quite thrilling under trailing throttle.
Compared to a docile MGA (even with steel belted Michelins that, legend had it, "let go" suddenly) that put up with my silly teenage driving with nary a bite, or most understeering cars I think unstable is not an unfair description.

FALSE- US MANUFACTURERS HAVE BEEN IMPROVING VEHICLE SAFETY SINCE THE START
The Corvair's alleged problems stemmed from its unusual rear-engined lay-out and the suspension that held it up.
DI DION SUSPENSION IS USED ON TENS OF THOUSANDS EUROPEAN CARS FRONT & REAR ENGINE BOTH; HARDLY UNUSUAL
That design led to unstable emergency handling,
