<VV> LM Accelerator Pedal

I found a good diagram of the accelerator pedal assembly in the Underground book. It took me a good hour to get the 7/16" nut off, it was so rusted
it didn't even have form to fit the wrench or socket over it.
Were these steel assembly pieces all raw steel when the car was new? I was thinking it would be good to shoot a coat of primer and black paint on all these parts b4
reinstalling them all again. Good idea? Or just keep it dry in the future?
