<VV> fuel tank removal

Greetings all,

    I've just discovered that the fuel tank in the 65 monza I just purchased leaks badly when full.  What is the most likely culprit, and please pass on advice for removing the tank.  I plan to start the project in the next few hours but have never had the fuel tank out of  a corvair in the past.
