6.50-13's were about 24.5" diameter.
175/80-13's are about 24.0"
185/80-13's are about 24.7"
205/60-13's are about 22.69"
The above dimensions are mathematical. Actual tires will vary. The
175/80 you describe is quite tall for a 175/80. Read the manufacturer's
specifications before purchasing to know what you're getting.
As I said in my post, "If you want something shorter and wider try to
find some 205/60-13's." I didn't mean to suggest that a 205/60 was the
same diameter as a 6.50-13. It is, in fact, quite a bit smaller. Some
guys aren't interested in maintaining the original tire height and
would prefer to lower the car a bit and have more width. That's what I
meant. And yes, the 205/60 will increase rpm about 7%. In other words,
instead of running 3,000 at a particular speed you'll run about 3,239.
Ya' pays yer money and ya takes yer choice.
