You're absolutely right... the shorter tires dramatically increase
effective gearing (like going from a 3.27 to a 3.89 diff) and lower the
car. Depending on your point of view, those may be advantages or
disadvantages. But the 205/60-13s are a practical alternative and I've
run them on a number of Corvairs. A bonus is that the tires are usually
performance oriented and really improve handling over economy tuned
tires. Love them around town; on the interstate not so much. ;-).
