<VV> question about manual shifter / shift pattern on early FC

Funny, on my 62 FC, 1st is up and reverse is down, then 2nd is down and
3rd is up.
Of course, mine is a three speed!
Actually I find shifting the early FC to be the same hand motions as a
Corvair car or other truck of that vintage, just VERY long throws. Don't
think how to shift, just drive.
