The 2007 Performance Workshop was my third workshop, and like its
predecessors, it was great! I'm very grateful to Gary for opening up
his shop and taking time away from his business to let us performance
sluts get together to talk about fast Corvairs. Two highlights this
year were the extra space that allowed people and things to be spread
out, and picking up the street performance engine that Gary (Vintage
Motorsports Services) had built for my wife, Ina's, '65 coupe. (She
thought it was very "purty" and can't wait to get it into the car and
out on the street.)
The great thing about the workshop is that it's focused on one thing:
Corvair performance. The best parts of every workshop are (in no
particular order): the people -- talking to people from all over the
country about Corvairs and performance; the presentations -- how to make
Corvairs go fast and how to have fun with fast Corvairs; the vendors --
parts for both show and go; the car displays -- neat go-fast cars
trailered in for our viewing pleasure; and the Friday night dinner and
Saturday lunch -- great food shared with great people!
It's 675 miles from Rochester, Minnesota to Dayton, Ohio and the end of
February is the beginning of the peak snowfall period in Minnesota (we
came home to about 15 inches this year), but it's always been more than
worth the trip. See you next year!
