Having read most of the e mail follow ups on the Workshop, I'll try to fill in some gaps.
I was immediately impressed by Ina Keillor; her registration help, friendliness , and the video of preparing her car after 35 years of storage.
I liked the variety of car preparation; Norris's Sunoco 90% racer, Fike's "sold" 100% vintage racer, Freeman's clone of my Stinger back when it was in street racer trim. Of course I didn't have his collossal sound system.
There were also some very nice stock Corvairs, The Vendor area had every thing from pure stock NOS items to all out hard core racer parts. Of course my favorite was watching Jim Dallas scare all of the racers in his area whith his new competition (Early) parts on display.
We had one very excited new vintage race car owner and one (two) very disappointed buyers of the Formula car--the owner abruptly decided not to sell.
I am always disappointed by not being able to speed more time with each attendee. I'll have to come sometime with no duties at all.
Immediately I was struck with the friendliness and enthusiasm of newly retired Corvair people. (load off-just play),
Contrarily, I was also impressed by the attendance of several 20 something new enthusiasts---we need that. Some of the new , 2nd or 3rd generation young enthusiasts were accompanied by newly attending folks of my age.
I enjoyed all of the presentations that I was able to attend. Aero Neds "tuff" aerodynamics pesentation paralled my own open tube manometer tests of years ago..
I found out that Bob Marlow was not going to present the Early handling talk so had to ad lib it myself. I really wanted to take notes on his discoveries.
The dual presentations of an ultimate Corvair Dragster and ultimate(Formula car not there) autocross car was perfect in showing the different paths to a single purpose car. At this level a dual purpose car is just not possible.
There were so many distractions, that I'm anxiously awaiting the video to see what I missed.
Gary puts out a lot of effort for no tangible return for the weekend; we should acknowledge that.
We collected $243 for the racers fund because the 50/50 winner donated back into it.
If there is any interest I may write up a more detailed Roadster article later.
Ok, Your turn,
Warren
