CORSA politics SHOULDN'T come within 1/1000th of "real" politics. We're sort of "pre-filtered" by being Corvair people. The general population is much more diverse and therefore much more devisive. Our issues are confined to Corvair issues. The real world has a LOT more issues for people to disagree on.
>From what I've heard (from various sources), it's not so much rancor on the board as it is frustration from "talking to a wall". Then again, we're a car club, how much change do we need? Beats me. But if there are changes that need to be made or things that need to be done, it'd be nice to think that it could happen in a reasonable amount of time. I sometimes think about running (put up or shut up ya know) but I have a low frustration tolerance and I fear I will not have fun with it. I got my Corvair to have fun and so far, I am. I'd hate to change that by getting caught up with club politics that I don't really even care about. Then again, if I'm going to enjoy the benefits of the club (conventions, shows, autocross, etc....) then maybe I should contribute. I honestly do think that if a person is going to run for club office, they should really want to do the job, they shouldn't do it out of a feeling of obligation.
Lon, instead of shaming us into wanting to run or telling us how it's worse in other political places, sell us on why we should want to do it. Certainly there are benefits for the people who run for office. Tell us about those. Come on, you have SOME sales experience, right? Sell us!
