Ever since one specific trip in the early mid 80s when the 61 Lakewood
was our main driver, these have been our basic requirements...
This story has been on VV before...
night time trip on I40W in TN, at least -20F ambient, 20+ mph
headwinds, 65mph speed I guess...at least all I'll admit to. It got so
cold in the car that the LCD digital clock display in the AM/FM
cassette radio stopped working. My wife has never forgotten that one.
I used that car regularly in the snow otherwise through the 80s and it
was generally fine (same with the 66 which was my only driver from 74
thru 80)...but not that time...and on both vairs I've had problems with
collecting rime ice around the perimeter of the windshield that
migrated in towards the viewing area at highway speeds in freezing TN
drizzle...not an issue as the 66 is not used in bad weather any more.
While my wife tolerates the car stuff well, she has no interest
herself but does like to be warm...
