"Teching only the top x cars is not feasible. How do you tech the top 3 cars when you have to wait for everyone to finish? By the time you determine who the winner is, they could easily be returned to normal."

Gee, what do you guys do at the end of an econorun, hang out in a parking lot?

I had made the assumption, silly me, that the econorun ended at a restaurant or other food establishment. All the entrants would grab a bit to eat while they waited for the results to be tallied.

When we were running a lot of rallies, Surf Corvette Club back in the 60's, the rally route was one thing, but if you ended the rally at a sub-standard pizza joint or other food establishment, your rally would be deemed a failure because of poor food & drink. But then those were different times.

Maybe you could impound the cars while the entrants had a meal? Impound, I think I hear that on NASCAR? Teching the cars at the end of the econorun will mean a minimal amount of inspection being done, unless of course you end up with a 30% DQ rate, which kind of shows you nobody read the rules.

The whole point is you just need to run a safe event. I think the best statement was the comment on having the proper course layout for the econorun. Out in the country away from the normal flow of traffic.

It's a nice day, let's go for a ride and oh yea, let's see whose Corvair can get the best fuel mileage.
