This is just an idea, but may be a world easier and
safer. Leave the battery in the rear, and instead,
mount your spare tire up front, and add two body
baffles just above the front tires, like my
convertible has. Then with the addition of a trunk
carpet kit, maybe a steering damper, you will notice a
much better improvement that just moving the battery
to the trunk.
For one, those body dampers/baffles weigh 25-lbs. a
peice, the 80/20 trunk carpet kit weighs at least
10-lbs, and the steering damper adds 8lbs.
I have a ton of clever ways of shifting the weight to
the front, and most I have on my 67 convert, and she
does drive and steer really good. Opinions vary to
shifting weight, but I am a big fan of subtle,
permanant shifts to the front, and not the
cinder-block in the trunk thing. Unnoticeable weight
is the way to go, IMHO. Of course, my small tool box
is up front as well, and all of this and a full tank
of gas, and she has NO front end drift at highway
speeds.
Just thought I would suggest this, cause it will
actually be a better way to go than the moving of the
battery... Although, again opinions vary, but I always
think of safe and secure, if possible. I am a newbie,
so others may have better ideas to work with.
Best Regards,
Danny
