Fall Affair this weekend. As many of you know  this is Danny's (my oldest
grandson) car. I need to buy him a helmet this  week. What are the SCCA
requirements for helmets? Can I get the proper one  at a motorcycle shop?

The helmet requirements for SCCA Solo II:
 
Helmets meeting the following standards must be worn while on
course:  All helmets meeting the current or two immediately
preceding Snell Foundation  standards (SA, K, or M), or SFI
standards 31.1A, 31.2A, 41.1A, or 41.2A are  acceptable.
For maximum protection, helmets must fit securely and  should
provide adequate peripheral vision. The chin strap must be
securely  fastened.
 
A Snell rated M (motorcycle) helmet is fine. Look for a Snell 2000  helmet. 
it will be good for a while. The SA helmet means Sport Applications. It  might 
be required for Track Events.
