all i can say is i have done this for about 10 years or more now and the
magnets are still in place if i take them apart again. i also use magnetic drain
plugs in clarks pans on tranny and engine. if i had stock pans i would just
leave them on the pans. they stay on the oil pickups just fine so far. this is
not a dream , i have done this successfully. i also magnatize the dipsticks
and drain plugs on my small engines on snowblowers and tractor / mowers.
actully i think a strong magnet on the outside of a steel pan would hold a lot of
metal filings from circulation. i left one in the differentials also.
